Insects and Spiders

• Ants
  Moisture ants are brownish-yellow to dark brown in color and about 1/8th of an inch long. They will invade homes from nests on the property while foraging for food. Occasionally, an outdoor colony will relocate inside a bathroom, kitchen, or wherever a water leak may be. Swarming is one of the most common signs of a moisture ant infestation. You may also see trails, tunnels, and sawdust. This ant species builds nests called “cartons” using soil they carry into the building.
• Spiders
  Anyone who has lived in Washington knows that spiders are frequent visitors to our homes, offices, and gardens. During the late summer and early fall, spiders appear in large numbers. They can often be found in moist, dark areas such as crawl spaces, window wells, or basements. Control of spider populations is best achieved by mitigating the general insect population. Sunrise offers a quarterly pest maintenance service, All Pest Protection, that includes general pest control and web sweeping to help limit spider activity.
• Termites
  Termites can do a lot of damage, and it’s important to take action right away. Because cases can vary dramatically, we do not offer online or over-the-phone quotes for termite pest control. Instead, please call us to schedule an in-person consultation so we can create a customized plan to address your unique needs.
• Bed Bugs

• Fleas
  Flea troubles begin with dogs or cats who bring them in from outside. In serious cases, rodent activity can also cause infestations. Fleas are brown to black and slightly flat. Pets are the primary attractor for fleas. However, they will also feed on humans.Â
• Cockroaches
  Cockroaches are one of the peskiest creatures that infest homes and restaurants. They hide in dark, moist, warm, especially hard-to-reach areas like cracks and crevices. Roaches have no season, and produce quickly, which makes killing roaches a challenge. Additionally, more than one species of Cockroach can infest a structure at once.Â
• Silverfish

  Often, people report seeing wasp or hornet activity when they are merely pollinating bees. An easy way to spot the difference is that pollinating bees are fuzzy.
• Wasps
  If you are already enrolled in All Pest Protection, then you are covered by a warranty for Bees, Wasps, and all other common pests. Don’t pay any extra to get rid of a bees nest, just call Sunrise Pest Management, we are proud to be your pest control company.
• Flies
  These services will control all of the pests that are likely to invade your home, including wood destroying insects like Carpenter Ants, and common nuisances such as Bees, Yellow Jackets, Rats, and Mice. It also visibly reduces the presence of pests such as Fruit Flies and Spiders, and the service includes the removal of visible spider webs attached to your home. If you experience pest problems in between regularly scheduled quarterly services, you simply call us and we will dispatch a Technician to treat and solve your problem at no additional charge.
• Beetles
  Like most homeowners in the Pacific Northwest, you’re familiar with anobiid beetles, also known as powder post beetles. These pests prefer damp timber in poorly ventilated areas. Powderpost beetles infest basements or crawlspaces, often indicating a water leak or a moisture issue.
• Hornets
  Over the course of Spring and Summer, Wasps become increasingly more aggressive, causing disturbance to your property, and can even cause allergic reactions. You may find nests hidden in your eaves or built behind your siding. Sunrise treats wasp nests directly to handle the initial infestation, and we offer pest control services for wasps removal/hornets removal, and to prevent insect activity throughout the year.

  . These pests typically pop up during the early weeks of April and May, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Queens spend the majority of the colder months overwintering or hibernating, and rapidly expand their nests once the weather warms up.
• Mites
  Western Washington is home to a variety of different types of spiders. These eight-legged arachnids feed on insects, mites, and small animals. They’re considered beneficial and help control insects that would otherwise be harmful in larger numbers. The two most common types of spiders in Western Washington are the Hobo Spider and the Domestic House Spider. Despite popular belief, poisonous spiders such as brown recluse and black widow spiders are not native to this part of the state and are rarely found. Many domestic house spider and hobo spider species belong to the genus Tegenaria. Spiders in this genus generally thrive in dark, damp places such as basements, crawl spaces, or window wells. They are capable of surviving for several months without food or water. Young spiders in this genus hatch in May or June and have roughly a 2-year lifespan. However, females can live for up to three years or more.

Animal Control

  If you are a homeowner seeking a perfect lawn, getting rid of moles is a challenge. Moles cause damage to lawns and gardens by digging and creating tunnels that disrupt root systems while feeding on earthworms and grubs. We have two types of Moles in Washington.Â

• Mice
  The good news is you don’t have to do the dirty work. Our pest control professionals are here to help you get rid of rats and mice in your home and prevent future rodent infestations. Sunrise utilizes Integrated Pest Management techniques to safely and effectively stop rodent infestations and deter potential invaders.
• Rats
  Power plants have a very low tolerance for rodent activity. As you can imagine, rats chewing on wires at a place like this would be bad news.
• Gophers
  We have both Pocket Gophers and Moles here in Western Washington. The Townsend’s Mole is a more frequent offender, however, Gopher activity is not unheard of. Sunrise does not have any specific treatments for Gophers; if you think you are dealing with a Gopher infestation, we encourage you to reach out to the U.S.D.A. Wildlife Services.
