Rio Grande Electric Cooperative currently serves more than 9,800 meters, in 18 counties in Texas and two in New Mexico, which include Webb, Uvalde, Val Verde, Reeves, Hudspeth, Dimmit, Kinney, Terrell, Presidio, El Paso, Maverick, Edwards, Pecos, Jeff Davis, Zavala, Crockett, Brewster, Culberson in Texas; and Otero and Eddy in New Mexico. The cooperative is run by a board of 13 directors elected by the members, and has more than 90 employees in six area offices throughout Texas. Rio Grande Electric Cooperative maintains more than 8,800 miles of line that includes 143 miles of transmission line and 19 miles of underground line. The cooperative also operates an Internet service, RioNet. Rio Grande Electric Cooperative was organized in 1945 and is located in Brackettville, Texas.
