Hughes Virtual Privacy Office (HVPO) is a new kind of company. It provides HIPAA consulting to clients and U.S. health plans, clearinghouses and providers with a virtual privacy officer. The virtual privacy officer and HIPAA consultant delivers just the right combination of onsite and remote privacy services customized to meet clients’ needs. The virtual privacy consultant first performs an onsite assessment, identifying gaps between the requirements of the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), other federal and state privacy laws, and the organization’s actual privacy practices. The privacy officer then facilitates an action plan to address those gaps, and provides just the services the organization needs.
