Douglas Middle School, located in Box Elder, S.D., is a public school that offers educational and extracurricular programs to students in grades six through eight. The school has a student population of more than 600 students and over 70 teachers and other staff. Each of the grades is divided into two core teams and the special education, elective, and general course staffs serve alongside the core teams. The school maintains a full-time counseling office and special services intervention staff for physically and mentally challenged students, as well as specialists who provide help in areas of other behavior, speech, and special needs. Its library has more than 10,000 books along with a selection of periodicals and reference materials. Douglas Middle School works with the South Dakota Association for Middle Level Education and is affiliated with the Douglas School District.
