- In Boulder, Colorado, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) supports a powerful array of research, data collection and dissemination programs, and operational weather forecasts of Earths atmosphere and the space environment. Most of NOAAs Boulder activities take place in the David Skaggs Research Center at Broadway Street and Rayleigh Road. NOAAs Boulder portfolio goes back to the early 1950s, when the Central Radio Propagation Laboratory moved to town to conduct cutting-edge research on atmospheric processes and solar impacts. Since then, Boulder has become home to a critical concentration of experts in atmospheric and space sciences. NOAA Boulder is fundamental to this geographic center of excellence our researchers build systems to modernize weather forecasting, work at the center of international climate research and assessments, and make important discoveries about how the Earth system works and how to best predict what might happen next.
