The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association, also known as IHRSA, is a global trade association that represents the fitness industry. It represents more than 9,000 health and fitness facilities and over 700 supplier companies. Headquartered in Boston, the association employs a staff of nearly 65 personnel. The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association hosts several industry events, including conventions, trade shows, legislative summits and conferences. It monitors state and national legislations that impact the fitness industry s businesses. The association takes care that legislative decisions are taken in favor of the industry. The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association also sponsors research studies that examine the psychographics of club membership, member demographics and the attitudes of nonmembers about commercial health and sports clubs. In addition, it focuses on sales tax and legal rights issues related to the industry.
