Massachusetts FAIR Plan ((Fair Access to Insurance Requirements) also known as Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (MPIUA) is a residual market insurance association located in Boston, Mass. The association provides basic property insurance on eligible property for applicants who have been unable to gain insurance through the voluntary market. It offers policies under the Homeowners, Dwelling Fire and Commercial Property programs as approved by the Massachusetts Division of Insurance. Massachusetts FAIR Plan operates similar to that of a normal insurance company in that it underwrites and inspects risks, accepts premium, issues policies and adjusts claims.
