The Street Lighting Division of the Public Works Department of Boston, Mass., maintains electric, gas and ornamental lights in the city. The department s sanitation division offers collection and disposal services for residential household, solid waste and recyclable materials. Its highway construction and maintenance division maintains more than 500 miles of streets and also oversees various construction projects in the region. In addition, the Public Works Department provides utility trench repair, reconstruction and resurfacing, and driveway and pedestrian ramp installation services.
