Established in 1949, the Bossier City Police Department is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety, identifies and solves criminal cases and safeguards citizens rights. It offers services related to gun permits, traffic law enforcement, sexual offense, child abuse prevention, and crime and accident investigation. Located in Bossier City, La., the Bossier City Police Department maintains criminal investigations, patrol, records, traffic, training and special investigations divisions. The department has the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, which specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations. The Bossier City Police Department also operates a communication center that maintains a multichannel police system and provides communication services for police, fire and emergency medical services.
