The Barksdale Federal Credit Union mission is to enhance the financial well being of its members. Unlike a bank, a credit union s profits are returned to the members in the form of higher dividends on savings, lower interest rates on loans and lower fees for service. A nonprofit organization, Barksdale was established in 1954 to serve military and civilian personnel at Barksdale Air Force Base. Though it still serves military families, the credit union now deals with more than 800 companies, associations and churches. With more than $500 million in assets, Barksdale Federal Credit Union serves the Bossier, Caddo, Webster, Grant and Rapides, La., parishes, and it is the largest credit union in Louisiana.
