I want to vehemently disagree with the 'firing' of our meat manager here in Grinnell (Iowa) - Todd Shell was THE reason the business was so profound at that meat counter and store - he did everything possible to help the customers- Is it recognized by the Boone people that the Grinnell Fareway store is 'cramping' Hy-Vee and McNally's grocery stores to the point that very few people shop at those stores.? AND NOW this!! We truly hope that the Fareway organization reconsiders the 'firing' - Sue/Darrell Rojohn- Grinnell,Iowa

Congratulations ! A story about work at a Fareway store in Iowa was the joke of the ride for RAGBRAI 2008 ! A friend of a friend of a friend who rode this years RAGBRAI told me that according to a Jason Mitts, who said he works at a Fareway store, this is how they break in new high school workers..... Jason told a new male high school worker that they needed "air quality samples" from each aisle of the store. So, the young man took plastic bags and "collected" air from each aisle. When he brought the samples to Mitts, Mitts told him he had to do it again because the young man hadn't numbered the bags to match each aisle ! As this story was told around the campgrounds, groans and roars could be heard all through area. Fareway workers were the talk of the week !
