General Info

As a teenager Russ Freestone began getting treatments from Nate Schulman, a physical therapist who developed the Schulman Method. Russ was so impressed by the results, he returned to Schulman for help after he began experiencing chronic pain at age 40. By that time, Schulman was in his early 80's and still working full time. Once again, Russ got relief, this time for back, elbow, and knee pain. He received training in the Schulman Method and was certified in 2003, just before he moved to Idaho. He started his business "Relief at Last!" and has been helping Idahoans live healthier, happier lives ever since. Since Schulman Therapy is not taught in the massage schools, in 2006 Russ began offering a 100-hour certification program for professionals (and novices) to learn the Schulman Method. Russ Freestone is not a doctor (M.D. or D.O.) or a massage therapist. Schulman Therapy is not licensed by the State of Idaho, but Russ is allowed to practice under the Idaho Statutes, Title 54, Chapter 18. Russ lives with his wife and their parakeet "Smokie" in Boise, Idaho. When he's not at work helping people feel better, he spends his time gardening, teaching a home Bible study course as a volunteer minister, and exploring the back roads and wildlife of Idaho.

Though not considered to be massage, Schulman Therapy is a deep-tissue treatment that affects muscles, bones, and nerves, and is more effective than massage and is longer lasting. Schulman Therapy is good for pain relief, recovery from injury, and support for athletes and active individuals. Clients stay fully clothed during the treatment. A 30-minute Schulman Therapy treatment brings more relief than 60 or 90 minutes of massage. Training workshops are available for learning the Schulman Method. You can take an individual workshop, or enroll in a 100-hour certification program.
