J. Antonio G. López, MD, is a cardiologist, lipidologist, and hypertension specialist at Saint Alphonsus Medical Group Heart Care in Boise, Idaho. He is currently Director of Preventive Cardiology and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, Director of the Lipid Clinic, and Director of the LDL Apheresis Program at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, Idaho. He is the Chair of Cardiology at the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. In addition he is the Chair of Cardiovascular Research and Education and director of the Hypertension Consultation Service at Saint Alphonsus Medical Group Heart Care. His previous experience includes serving as both Director of the Lipid Clinic and Director of Cardiovascular outpatient and outreach programs at the University of Iowa. He was also Medical Director of Preventive Cardiology, Cardiovascular Rehabilitation, the Lipid Clinic and Prevention Center at the Prairie Heart Institute in Springfield, Illinois. Dr. López previously served on the faculty of the University of Iowa, the University of California at San Diego, and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. Dr. López received his medical degree Cum Laude from Harvard Medical School. At Harvard, he received the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Merit Scholar Award. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. He was a Research Fellow in the cardiac unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He went on to complete a fellowship in cardiovascular disease in the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
