- ArthritisViscosupplementation is used often in osteoarthrosis or degenerative arthritis of the knee, when the normal synovial or joint fluid becomes less functional (it loses its lubricating properties). Injecting the knee with a viscosupplement agent, such as Hyalgan or Synvisc, can be a very effective medical tool to help restore normal biomechanical function and viscous/elastic properties, which help the joint act more biomechanically efficient.
- FibromyalgiaTrigger points are painful “knots” in your muscles, often caused by injury or overuse of the muscle. A trigger point injection (TPI) can help soothe muscle pain, especially in your upper back and neck. It also can be used to treat fibromyalgia, tension headaches, and myofascial pain.
- Primary CareAn integral part of the Boca Trauma and Rehab team is our sports medicine department. A primary care sports medicine physician is specially trained in the care of nonsurgical orthopedic conditions and other injuries or disorders commonly seen in athletes and physically active individuals of all ages. Approximately 90% of all musculoskeletal, car accident injuries, and sports related injuries are non-surgical. As such, sports medicine physicians can maximize non-operative treatments such as joint injections, Platelet-Rich Plasma injections, Trigger point injections, and stem cell injections. A physician in this field helps to manage and coordinate care of injuries in a way that helps patients maximize function and minimize disability and time away from sports, work or school. They focus on treating the whole patient to prevent injuries, improve performance and enhance overall health.

- Knee ReplacementThis treatment is very effective for sports injuries and for athletes that love to run, bike, hike or participate in any sports that puts stress on the knees. It is also a great alternative to for people who are suffering from arthritis and would like to avoid knee replacement surgery. The viscosupplementation is covered by most insurances. Viscosupplementation will help diminish inflammation to an extent, as well as improve the lubricating capabilities of the joints.
- Sports MedicineStretching the patient while sedated breaks up scar tissue or adhesions in and around the muscles, discs, and connective tissues. These adhesions are commonly caused by multiple injuries, car accidents, sports injuries, poor posture, or even failed back surgeries. These adhesions are usually the reason why patients are not improving with their chiropractic treatment or pain doctors in an office setting, thus preventing full recovery from pain.
- Physical TherapyAt Boca Trauma and Rehab, physical therapy plays an integral role in our patient's recovery. By combining the best of medical care, chiropractic care and physical therapy we have enhanced our patient’s outcomes, and expedited recovery times. These improvements are especially significant for the athlete and injured worker, as return to work/play is paramount.
