- Medical Weight LossTelogen Effluvium: This is a type of temporary hair loss, for example after illness, surgery, weight loss or childbirth. The hair has three cycles: growing, resting and shedding. It is normal to shed 50-100 hairs per day. However, in the case of telogen effluvium, a stressful event triggers the hair cycle to shift toward the shedding phase. This usually occurs about 3 months after the stressor, and will usually resolve on its own, assuming any underlying issue, such as a vitamin deficiency, has been treated.

- ChemotherapyMelanomas create the greatest challenge. Once diagnosed, early surgical intervention where the lesion is removed, with safe margins, and sometimes including removal of lymph nodes, is normally the first step. This may or may not be followed by chemotherapy and radiation and further treatment if it has spread to other organs.
- Radiation TherapyShe brings her advanced training and clinical experience working with patients with dysplastic nevus syndrome, melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and other complex skin cancers, in addition to those with a history of radiation therapy and chemotherapy. She also enjoys engaging in clinical research to keep current with advances in the field.
- Wound CareThis treatment does not involve cutting of the skin but simply removal by scraping and burning the skin, therefore there are no stitches involved. It is a simple 5-10 minute procedure very similar to a skin biopsy since you are anesthetized in the same exact way and the wound care is the same. There will be either a red, pink, purple or white circular scar usually three times as large as the biopsy. There is no path report with this procedure however it has about a 90% cure rate and the area will be checked on every skin exam.

- EczemaA number of skin conditions are particularly common in young children and adolescents and require specialist knowledge to diagnose and treat. For example, eczema is especially common in babies and younger children, and can cause great discomfort. Other conditions – such as certain types of birthmarks – may rapidly develop as a child grows older, making it desirable for evaluation and treatment to take place as soon as possible. Children who grow up in Florida are also likely to experience higher levels of sun exposure, so a consultation with a certified dermatologist to monitor mole development and receive advice on sun protection is always highly recommended.
