I sympathize with your experience. As a former customer for several years I was sorry to see the former owners sell the salon. I miss you all very much. The girls were a great bunch.. This is by no means is the the same shop with the high caliper employees the former owner had there until last fall. The new owner was forced to close the salon and from what I heard from word-of-mouth around town, he has left a lot of unpaid debts from this purchase.

Worst expereince I ever experienced. This my first time since last year when I visted Jem;s. The whole salon was different. The old owner was no longer there. Quality was gone, along with the stylists I enjoyed seeing. What a loss.

We were regular customers when it run by the previous owner who started the business in 1999. Its my understanding she sold the business and what we found was the new owners kept the name and that was about all. It deceiving because Mary and the girls she employed were like one big family. She kept the salon in tip-top condition and did whatever she could to make us feel welcome. The new owners kept the name, but its not the same Jems. I wish they would have changed the name so everyone would know its not the same owner

What a fabulous place! I love my stylist, I am entertaining the idea of trying out the massage therapist because of recommendations my friends have made. This hair salon does a fantastic job for your money, and they give me (and everyone) their time and attention. From the customers I see, they it doesn't matter what your age is, they seem to cater to all ages and styles. The girls, even the newer ones, look like they are busy with regular clients they seem to know.

I found the people at JEM's very nice and I was very pleased with the services. The first visit was fantastic and Bani is a great stylist. She talented, funny, and a great person to talk with. The haircut was excellent and she knew just what to do. The charge for my cut and color was between $30-40 less than what the other salons of equal reputation were previously charging me in Bloomington-Normal. Some salons in Bloomington had the nerve to charge me over $100. for the cut/color/style...Can you believe it! I found the same quality and had a much more enjoyable time with Bani and saved $$$. Quaint shop in the Bloomington area. I had been going to see Petra and absolutely love how she cuts my hair. Thank goodness for search engines because that is how I was able to locate her at JEM's. She does a great job on my hair. I know I will never be disappointed with my haircut with her. Petra always seems to make my hair look great. The cuts are so good and easy to manage. I decided to get a perm on my hair and all I can say is "WOW"!!! so nice!!!!! Petra always listens to what you want and will always guide you the right way as far as cut, color or whatever. The Pedicaure I got from JEM's was awesome too....Thank you JEM's for making me Feel and Look great!!!!!!

Petra has been my stylist since she became a stylist at jem's hair studio! Her talent for someone so young never ceases to amaze me. She is courteous and professional. The rest of the salon is equally remarkable. Once, Petra wasn't available but I found out I could count on anyone in there. Everytime I leave I get compliments from friends at work! I recommend anyone and everyone to visit jem's in bloomington.

Finally, I have found a hair salon that is on the same page as me. I know that I can book my appointment with Cindy and she will always give me a great haircut and color with lots of style. I feel like I have been to so many salons in the past and have always walked out feeling cheated, like I did not get what I really wanted. I know that when I go to JEM's Hair Studio I will leave with a great feeling and very nice results

They went above and beyond my visit to Jems. As a present I received a gift card from my husband. I started with a massage which was so fantastic! Linda was great. After the massage Cindy got started on my hair. It's now been a week and I'm very happy with the cut and color. I am notoriously a bit of a pain in the rear when it comes to my haircut expectations. Cindy, a perfectionist, took the time to listen to all I had to say, asked a few questions, then took her time giving me the best cut I've ever had. Seriously. Cindy who said she has been in the hair business for many years really showed her talent and the price she charged, while on the gift card was really good. The only reason I could not give them a 5 star was I had to wait for 15 min. past my appoint time because she was late due to weather/roads getting into work that day. But that was fine, they got me a cup of coffee and had treats to eat while I read my emails.

I had heard good things about this hair salon from a friend who had great hair, so I decided to try it out when I needed a cut. Actually, I rather desperately needed a cut, as I was about to go on a trip. I was fortunate to get an appointment on the spot, although they do seem very busy with a lot of customers in the business. It was a very nice experience. The hair stylist-Cindy, didn?t seem to mind spending the extra time to get to know me and understand exactly what I was wanting. She took care to get everything the right length, and to cut it into a style that would be easy for me to do. (Not that I can do it, my hair still has not looked as good as the day that I walked out of the salon).Over all, it was a pleasant experience. It is a bit less costly than a couple of those upper end salons and the cut I received was better than those places.

I loved this place feels the minute I walked in. It's a relatively small salon, but I love the peaceful interior. I tagged along with a friend of mine who had her brows done by Mary, the owner, I made an appointment with Kristin who was great. Pricing is very fair and for the cut I got it was GREAT!. It sooooo much better than paying $40 for a cut and the result was the same. I got a Great Look.

After all of the raves, I finally decided to check out JEM's. Since I had spent the whole last year trying to find a great stylist, I was a bit skeptical. That, and, being a college student, I often resorted to the $15 haircuts from over on campus In August, I decided to get my hair restyled, and was fortunate enough to find Mary.She did wonders for my hair. I usually hate it short because I find that it makes me look like a baby, but she listened to my qualms, told me exactly what she was going to do, how it worked with my face shape (which, in my opinion, not enough stylists do these days), and made sure I was ok with everything before she began. I LOVED the layers she put in my hair. And I didn't look like a small child at all. Because I'm growing my hair out until the summer, I haven't returned since; but I am STILL getting compliments on the layers.Afterward, she taught me how to style my hair using styling wax, which I had never before used. Great!!! I've lived here in Bloomington for five years now, suffering through bad stylists and uncomfortable salon experiences, and thought I'd have to go back to the big city for a decent cut and service. NOW I find Cindy at Jem's. I guess better late than never.She knew exactly what I was talking about with regard to my current hair, gave me good input about what to do with it, taught me how to style it as we went along, and made it look suuuuuper cute. Jem's was my first salon experience after going to barbers my whole life. I got got the cut I wanted and I was surprised to find a large selection of men's products and men's shampoos. I already made my next appointment.
