The Public Service Department is governed by the City of Bloomington in Illinois. The Public Service Department s street and sewer division is responsible for the maintenance of traffic signing, pavements, paved alleys, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, sanitary sewers and storm sewers. Its refuse division is responsible for the collection and disposal of weekly garbage, biweekly recycle, brush and bulk waste and leaves from the City of Bloomington residential properties. The Public Service Department s division is also responsible for unpaved alley maintenance and the street sweeping of public roadways. Its division also maintains detention basins and waterways. The Public Service Department s division additionally provides programs for the disposal of grass clippings, appliances and paint.
