Its patrol division offers call response, hostage negotiation, underwater recovery and traffic collision reconstruction services. The department also conducts criminal investigations and collects forensic evidence in field and laboratory settings. Its animal control unit provides response, resolution, licensing enforcement services for animal complaints. The department also supervises town events, school-based programs, community service gatherings and youth mentoring programs. Additionally, it provides emergency medical services through paramedics and emergency medical technicians. The Bloomfield Police Department was formed in 1945.
