Local says it all, i love the local stores and this bakery is no exception, pasteries are to die for, and of course they have NO calories! A place to stop and smell the baking.

I visit my sister a few times a year in Vestavia Hills, AL and always insist that we make a detour to Savages. My go-tos every time are the mini cinnamon and pecan rolls and the cheese straws. I haven't tried everything but am always really happy with my favorites and being a baker and having gone to a lot of bakeries all over the world, I think this is a great representation of delicious Southern baking!

Savages is definitely the go-to bakery in town, they offer a wide variety of pastries from Cookies, Macaroons and Cannolis to Danish, Orange Rolls and their fabulous Meltaways. They serve the best Old Fashioned Meltaway that you can find, a sweet balance between crunchy and doughy and moist and crusty. You can slowly pull them apart until you get to the dense center of the roll or heat them up and eat them with a scoop of ice cream, truly a heavenly pastry. Their Gingerbread Men, Bear Claws, Orange Rolls and Sugar Cookies also are delicious, some of their other offerings like the Cinnamon Raisin, Apple or Cherry Meltaways can be either far too doughy and bread like or over moist and soggy, particularly the Apple. Some other pastries like the cheese pocket are nearly devoid of any filling. They sell all sorts of cakes, but I have never been a fan, decent quality, but overpriced. One of the only problems with this place is the employees; they can be lazy or dismissive. For example, my la

Called at noon, ordered up a B'Day cake to pick up at 5:00 p.m. No problem. This is what I always like to hear! Good to know someone still knows about customer service.

They make the perfect birthday cakes- my favorite is decorated with spring flowers. The cinnamon pull apart and the cheese biscuits are the perfect hostess gift and great for serving a brunches. They also make delicious sandwiches. My daughter loves their iced cookies and petite- fours. This is an old fashioned bakery - worth a visit if you are in Homewood.

I LOVE Savage's. Always have and always will. I am a loyal customer who has been going to Savage's all of my life because of the quality of their baked goods. I love the fact that their products are all made from scratch. I can not imagine a family function without Savage's. All of our birthday cakes continue to come from Savage's; keeping a family tradition!

savage's is by far the best bakery around; from their cakes and cookies (especially the peanut butter) to their dainish and meltaways! if you haven't tried a meltaway then you have not fully lived! they are truly amazing and worth every bite. things haven't really changed with savage's, which is why i love it so much. you can go in there time and again and always get the best cookie you will ever eat!

The best bakery in Bham. Wonderful cakes and cookies-never had a disappointment. Meltaways are unique and always a treat. Lunch sandwiches are special-- cream cheese and olive is my favorite. The staff is always helpful. If you need a cake like the baker baked for your Mom, Savage's is the place to go.

Iced smiley cookies - I LOVE these cookies!! They are shortbread cookies with an orange royal icing background and a smiley face in dark icing.
It's a good thing I don't live closer to this bakery because I'd weigh a ton from eating there all the time. Delicious!
My dad used to bring me iced sugar cookies from Savages everytime I did something good when I was little. That place was great then and its just as good now!
beautiful cakes and greet breads too
