This place is AMAZING! I've never even ordered off the menu, but their lunch bar is awesome! They have THE best fried flounder and fried mushrooms I've ever had!!!!!! I'd go here everyday if I lived closer!

This is my all time favorite restaurant in Alabama for over 20 years! I cannot believe that they serve so many people at lunch time (about 1,500 on a busy day) and still get you out within 45 minutes!!! The food is unbelievably good, well seasoned with about 25 different vegetables to choose everyday. If you have not been there, I feel sorry for what you're missing. The atmosphere is clean, a little dated in decor, but I promise you that you will not be disappointed. The steaks at night are great, but there are several places in town where the steaks are great, but nobody has the cafeteria line with the "meat and three" choice and quality of Niki's West. This is Southern cooking better than Mom's. (sorry, Mom)
I was there last summer with twelve family members. I wasn't that hot about the cafeteria line, but once I tasted the food, I would stand on line there anytime.I live in NY, but I know from experience, the best food is in the south. I grew up in B'ham. I CAN NOT believe I never dine there before. I went by this place for years going to the Vegetable Garden.I'm looking forward to dining there again and I hope my experience is even better the second time around.BLBronx, NY
