McWane, headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., is a family-owned business that operates thirteen iron foundries and related businesses across the United States, Canada and Australia. Its divisions manufacture ductile iron pipe, fittings, hydrants, valves, propane tanks and fire extinguishers. These and other products provide the infrastructure of vital water distribution and wastewater treatment systems for communities across North America. Its major plants by industry include four pipe facilities, four valve and hydrant facilities, seven soil pipe and utility fittings facilities, seven tank manufacturing facilities and one fire extinguisher facility. McWane s products are recyclable and are made from recyclable materials. The company recycles more than 750,000 tons of scrap iron each year, including 800,000 automobiles which it uses to create its products.
