The Billings Police Department is a law enforcement agency that offers services for the protection of residents lives and their property, as well as deterrence, detection and investigation of criminal activities. It operates a communication center that dispatches law enforcement calls, including police, fire, medical ambulances and first responders. The Billings Police Department employs a school resource officer that provides enforcement- and law-related education, as well as conducts counseling and mentoring sessions in local schools. The police department maintains a K-9 unit that handles issues related to drug intervention, tracking, and searches for persons, buildings and evidence.
