On February 18, 2006, we opened our exciting new Surgery Center, inpatient rooms and Emergency Department. Our commitment to the best in patient care continues a tradition that began in 1938 when doctors visited homesteads in the wilderness by dogsled. Our senior services include a continuum of care: homecare services to help seniors remain in their own home, adult day stay for seniors to socialize with others and for caregiver respite, independent and assisted living apartments along the river, and rehabilitation and long term care options. Our long term care facility, the Bigfork Valley Communities, was a pioneer of change from the medical model to a social model of living in 1999. We embraced the Eden Alternative philosophy and other progressive ideas to bring living decisions of everyday life closer to our elders. Our long term care facility receives many visitors during the year and is internationally recognized.
