About Ms. Westhauser Dscn0244 Ms. Westhauser is licensed in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., a professional member of the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine(AAAOM) and Board Certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology. (NCCAOM) She has been in private practice in the Metropolitan area since 2004 and has treated over 25,000 patients. Most recently she has joined the Maryland University of Integrative Health as a clinical supervisor in the Chinese Herbal Program. Ms. Westhauser studied at the Maryland Institute for Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Shanghai, China, the Maryland University of Integrative Health and has completed Bob Flaws Advanced Gynecology Program. Ms. Westhauser incorporates Chinese nutritional counseling, acupuncture, herbs and heat therapies into her treatments. During initial consultations, she provides details about treatment options based on your individual health assessment. In general, acupuncture tends to be beneficial for acute and chronic pain or traumatic injuries. Whereas internal ailments require a combined approach of acupuncture, nutritional changes and herbal therapies. Ms. Westhauser practices Chinese medicine (Zhong Yi) based on pattern discrimination (Bian Zheng Lun Zhi) and utilizes ancient herbal formulas and their modification to each patient’s condition. She prescribes herbs from Kamwo because of their rigorous quality standards. Ms. Westhauser offers comprehensive diagnosis and treatment that is practiced with skill, compassion and care for each and every patient. She utilizes the Standards of Care that are employed in professional Chinese Medicine which include: standard methodology, disease diagnosis (Bian bing) and pattern discrimination (Bian zheng).
