The American Podiatric Medical Association, also known as APMA, is one of leading professional organizations for podiatrists in the United States. The organization has been in operation since 1912 and maintains locations throughout the U.S. It has more than 11,000 members and provides information on issues related to foot and ankle health. The organization employs a staff of over 50 individuals. The American Podiatric Medical Association offers public education and legislative advocacy services. It operates the Young Members Program. The American Podiatric Medical Association s Council on Podiatric Medical Education is the body designated by the Department of Education to accredit the nation's podiatric medical schools.
