The Bureau of Fire Prevention is responsible for fire inspections of businesses annually within the Borough of Belmar in New Jersey. Its additional areas of responsibility include the investigation of all fires and offering fire safety and prevention educational programs for the reduction of fire-related losses in lives, injuries and property. Its responsibilities also include developing fire protection policies and programs; educating the public regarding fire prevention; compiling, analyzing and reacting to local fire statistics; and implementing and managing fire inspections and plan review systems. In addition, the bureau is responsible for ensuring compliance with national and state building and fire codes; conducting fire investigations; establishing standards and training for emergency service investigators; and developing effective fire protection policies and practices.
