- Business TransactionsI routinely represent business owners and individuals who are involved in business transactions, including the purchase of a business, sale of a business, or general business matters including contracts for potential customers, collection of debts, and general business advice.
- Limited Liability CompaniesI can assist you with achieving your business objectives, whether that includes reviewing contracts, drafting contracts, formation of corporations, or formation of limited liability companies, and just general business transaction legal representation and business advice.
- Construction ContractsConstruction contracts must include certain language, and contractors are required by law to provide certain customers with a "Notice to Customer." The contractor's failure to provide this notice may limit the contractor's rights under certain circumstances. The contractor registration statute also includes many other requirements for contractors, subcontractors, as well as lays out certain rights afforded to customers. Contact me to schedule an appointment to discuss your construction issues.
- Real Estate LitigationReal Estate Law, including dispute resolution, drafting and reviewing covenants, codes and restrictions, easements, boundary disputes, and enforcement of real estate contracts and purchase and sale agreements.
- Construction LitigationHaving a well written construction contract, and screening contractors before doing business will usually result in a construction project being completed on-time and without any major problems. However, in the unfortunate event that you must seek recourse in the courts against a contractor, subcontractor, or homeowner, I have successful experience with construction litigation. Many contractors who have been in business for many years often are not familiar with Washington's contractor registration statute.
- Landlord-Tenant DisputesNot recommend doing that. If you have never been a landlord, you probably do not understand your legal duties as a landlord. Landlords, as well as tenants, have clearly defined rights and duties under Washington's Landlord Tenant statute. Consulting with an attorney about a lease may cost you a bit of money, but it is usually money well-spent if it means you can avoid costly problems later down the road. Think about it. Renting your house to a complete stranger is a big risk. Would you want to be too frugal to hire a lawyer for proactive advice, but then turn around and give the keys to one of your biggest investments over to a complete stranger, and run into landlord tenant problems that could eventually cost you lots of money later? Call me or e-mail today to schedule an appointment. I often charge a flat fee to draft residential leases.
- Estate PlanningE state planning is typically separate and distinct from "probate." Proper and well thought-out estate planning may usually avoid the probate process. One can look at estate planning as what we do when we are living, to plan in advance how the assets of our estate will be distributed upon our death. Although death and taxes are inevitable, estate planning is often a subject most people wish to avoid. Again, my advice is to be proactive, so that your loved ones do not have to be in the reactive mode upon your passing.

- TrustsProbate is a term used to describe the legal process upon your passing if you have not placed your assets into some sort of a trust. In other words, if, while you are alive, you have not created some sort of revocable or irrevocable trust, then most likely upon your passing, somebody will be designated to ensure your assets are distributed in the probate process.
