Avellino has excellent coffee beans-they use this old espresso machine that seems like a drag to operate but ohh...the espresso tastes great! The staff perplex me at times because they'll only have one barista helping customers while two staffers are happily chatting away in the kitchen-yes, baking goodies-but I think customer service should be first and foremost so I wished they'd come to the front and help when the line gets long (because it always does). The atmosphere is dark and the tables and chairs aren't comfortable but I usually take my order "to go" anyway. Avellino has a demographic mix of consumers-early morning has its male politico table which can be off-putting when you jet in there for a cuppa and they get served first as "the regulars". Mostly well-established young hippies and wealthy weekend downtowners frequent this cafe. Definitely go to Avellino for their delicious coffee bean, get your cuppa "to go" leaving the dark atmosphere and spotty attitude back @ the cafe
