KOHANIM: Sahar Kohanim, MD, MPH, is an expert in the field of ophthalmology, a widely published author, award winning researcher, guest editor for national & international journals, and is the medical director of Nashville Center for Sight. She received her M.D. from Johns Hopkins, and completed her residency in ophthalmology, and fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery, at Harvard Medical School. During training, she won many prestigious awards from national and international organizations. Dr. Kohanim then remained on faculty at Harvard, where she was the Director of Cornea & Refractive Surgery, and the Director of Inpatient Ophthalmology at Beth Israel Deaconess. She was then recruited to Vanderbilt, where she was the Director of Patient Safety & Quality at the Eye Institute and received the Dr. Denis O'Day Award for Excellence in Clinical Instruction. Her research project was recognized by the 2018 Clarkson Quality Improvement award of the American Board of Ophthalmology.
