The St. Clair County Sheriff s Department is administered by the government of St. Clair County in Illinois. The department is responsible for the protection of life and property in the county. It works towards the prevention of crime and the maintenance of safety and order. The St. Clair County Sheriff s Department also ensures that violators of law are brought to trial. The department operates through patrol, correction, civil process and court bailiff services divisions. The St. Clair County Sheriff s Department additionally manages prisoners who are confined to the St. Clair County Jail and delivers them to court for arraignments, and bench and jury trials.
