- Dental CareThough often overlooked by pet owners, dental health is a very important part of your pet’s overall health. Dental disease is pervasive enough in 50% of cats and 85% of dogs over the age of 3 to require professional dental intervention and care. Pets who do not receive regular dental brushing and gum care can suffer from serious illnesses as bacteria from the pet’s mouth enters its bloodstream and damages the kidneys, heart, and liver.
- VaccinationRequired by state law, this vaccination is given first at 16 weeks of age. Dogs are revaccinated at 1 year from the initial vaccination, and then every 3 years.
- Veterinary OphthalmologyFollowing graduation, she was accepted into a year long small animal rotating internship at Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn. She rotated through internal medicine, surgery, oncology, emergency, cardiology, ophthalmology and neurology services. The internship allowed her to develop her professional interests in internal, preventative and emergency medicine.

- Nutritional CounselingWe provide thorough pet cancer screening, including X-rays, ultrasound, and sophisticated blood tests including tumor markers. Diagnosis is made either by fine needle aspirate or by biopsy. After diagnosis, we offer chemotherapy, surgery, and nutritional support for your pet. - Comprehensive ExaminationWe want each and every pet we see to remain healthy and active for many years. The best way to ensure a healthy life is to bring your pet in for an annual wellness exam. We will take a close look at your pet from “nose to tail” to make sure he or she is in good health, as well as to detect any medical issues in early stages when they can be more easily treated.
- Parasites Treatment and ControlIf you have any specific questions about your pet’s health or behavior, please don’t hesitate to ask us when you are here, or contact us at any time. We are always happy to offer advice on behavioral issues, flea and tick prevention, nutritional questions, and more.
- Behavioral Disorder TreatmentDogs and cats need vaccinations to help them stay healthy and avoid potentially life-threatening illness from canine distemper virus, parvovirus, hepatitis virus, and parainfluenza virus for dogs, and feline respiratory viruses for cats. The following is a list of common vaccinations we recommend at Bellerose Animal Hospital.
- Pain ManagementAt the center of all we do is your pet’s health and comfort. We know that pain relief (analgesia) is central to the healing process and has been shown in human medicine to increase survival rates and decrease hospital stays. We do all that we can to make your pet as calm as we possibly can. With the aid of a pain scale, modeled after human teaching hospitals’ pain scales, we monitor your pet’s anxiety level and pain throughout his or her treatment both during the visit to our facility and through follow-up with you when you bring your pet home.

- Hip Dysplasia TreatmentBy providing an inside snapshot of your pet’s body and organs, digital pet X-rays can aid in the diagnosis of orthopedic problems such as fractures and hip dysplasia, as well as arthritic changes in bones and joints. Heart and lung disease, gastrointestinal problems, and bladder stones can often be diagnosed quickly and efficiently using X-rays.
- Diabetes Treatment
- Thyroid Disease Treatment
- Heart Disease TreatmentAnimals, like people, can suffer from a wide variety of heart diseases. In order to correctly diagnose and treat these diseases, it is necessary to see inside the heart, visualize the movement of the chambers, and to look at the valves in motion. Echocardiography (an ultrasound of the heart) is a standard, non-invasive technique for assessing cardiac anatomy, pathology, and function. Echocardiography is commonly done by a cardiologist at our hospital.
- Kidney Disease Treatment
- Cancer TreatmentAs veterinary care has improved over the years, our pets are living longer, more active lives than ever before. However, aging carries with it certain risks, including cancer. Canine cancer affects one out of every three dogs. At Bellerose Animal Hospital, we are proud of the highly skilled and sensitive cancer care we provide patients and their families.
- Wound and Fracture Care
- Dental SurgeryIt is always our goal to send patients home as soon as medically appropriate. After many simple dental procedures, we are able to return your pet to you the same day after 5 p.m. However, pets requiring extensive oral surgery and analgesia will remain hospitalized overnight. Pain management will include both local and intravenous analgesia, which will be monitored by our licensed veterinary technicians.
- Veterinary SurgeryOur trained veterinary staff and fully equipped surgical suite offer your pet the best care possible if he or she requires surgery of any kind, from a simple spay or neuter to chest, abdominal, or orthopedic procedures to cancer surgery. All of our animal patients are treated as people are in a human hospital, with a full team of caregivers closely monitoring their progress every step of the way. We focus on positive patient outcomes and always strive to provide the least invasive and most effective procedure for your pet.
