Kids who love to get hands-on will be tickled pink at the interactive exhibits of the Small Discovery Room! There, a series of 23 “Discovery Boxes” let children learn about an array of natural topics. Poke your sniffer into the “Herbs Your Nose Knows” box to learn to identify by smell the aromatic plants used in delicious foods and products like soap. In the Large Discovery Room, special exhibits allow kids to carry out experiments and do detailed examinations of mineral specimens. They may even be allowed to see and touch live critters, such as furry spiders and harmless snakes! Next, venture outside to four-acre Russ Pitman Park, where the grasses and tall trees are home to creatures from beetles to birds. Keep your eyes open for bushy-tailed squirrels and colorful butterflies as you go on a miniature wilderness trek!
