As a credit cooperative, Ag New Mexico is owned by its borrowers and managed by a customer-elected board of directors. When you receive an ACA loan, you also become a stockholder, which entitles you to vote on the board of directors and on important co-op issues. No other type of lender offers that advantage. Ag New Mexico is part of the nationwide Farm Credit System, which was established by Congress to provide American agriculture with a dependable source of credit. The cooperative lending institution also is a proud member of the Tenth Farm Credit District, which encompasses New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. When Ag New Mexico does well financially, you benefit. That's the basic philosophy behind our patronage program and also a basic financial reason for doing business with a Farm Credit lending cooperative. Every borrower is a stockholder of the cooperative and thus may receive part of the earnings. The more you borrow, the bigger your share of the earnings.
