Elliot Harris joined First Command Financial Services as a Financial Advisor in November 2022, following a 33-year career in the United States Army, where he first enlisted in the NY Army National Guard, and attained the rank of colonel upon retirement. Elliot understands the challenges and opportunities associated with life in the military and is committed to helping service members and their families get their financial lives squared away. A graduate of Naval Postgraduate School with a Master’s degree in National Security Affairs, Elliot holds Series 7 and 66 securities licenses plus life and health insurance licenses in Florida. Elliot also spent over twenty years serving as a Foreign Area Officer living and working all over Latin America; he speaks and reads fluent professional Spanish. Elliot serves as a personal financial coach to clients, continually reinforcing positive financial behaviors. His thorough knowledge of military pay and benefits enables him to advise clients on how to navigate the Blended Retirement System, properly allocate their contributions to the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and take full advantage of other benefits. Elliot will work with you to establish specific, meaningful goals that are consistent with your values and then develop a personalized financial plan to guide your pursuit of those goals. Active in his community, Elliot is affiliated with South Tampa Chamber of Commerce and the Military Officers Association of America. In his free time, Elliot enjoys hiking, reading, spending time with family, and actively volunteers in support of the military and veterans community.
