If excess skin must be removed, the incision is sometimes made under the eyelashes. Working through the incision, Dr. O’Mara may remove excess fat responsible for bags or reposition the fat to a lower point in order to smooth the junction between the lower eyelid and cheek. Any excess skin beneath the eyelashes is also removed.

Chin implant procedures typically take thirty minutes to complete while cheek augmentation takes approximately one hour. For cheek augmentation, the incisions are typically intraoral, located inside of the mouth below the cheek. For chin augmentation, a small skin incision is made just beneath the chin. Working through these incisions, Dr. O’Mara will create precise pockets over the mandible and/or cheekbones, then place the implants into these pockets.

- Skin CancerMOHS micrographic surgery, which is performed by a specially trained dermatologist, is a specialized form of skin cancer treatment in Beaumont, Texas in which skin cancers are excised and then examined under a microscope. This process ensures that all involved tissue is removed layer by layer while as much normal, healthy tissue as possible is preserved. MOHS excision has one of the highest cure rates. Researchers hope to expand the treatment’s effectiveness for other allergies such as hay fever, eczema and food sensitivities.

- LesionsReconstruction of MOHS defects is the reconstruction of skin defects resulting from excision of cancerous lesions and is often performed immediately after the skin cancer removal. Reconstruction is aimed at restoring form and function of the treated area. Dr. O’Mara performs MOHS defect reconstructions at his office or at an outpatient surgery center. General anesthesia is most often used, though IV sedation is also an option. While surgical times will vary, they average one to three hours.
- Chemical PeelsBBL provides gradual improvement rather than immediate results. Depending on the extent of correction the patient is seeking, we recommend anywhere from 2-4 Broad Band Light treatment sessions, spaced three to four weeks apart. Because the treatments are so brief and require little or no recovery, they are ideal for patients with active, busy lifestyles, especially those who don’t have the time to recover from more invasive treatment with laser skin resurfacing or deep chemical peels.
- Skin CareAlso, patients may have sun-damaged skin in the form of pigmented spots, or problems with small blood vessels causing chronic redness. - AllergiesA skin prick test is the most common form of allergy testing. This test involves placing a small drop of an allergen extract on your skin. An applicator is then used to prick the skin underneath the drop; this allows for a small amount of solution to enter just below the surface of the skin. Once this is completed, any swelling or redness is measured and, depending on the size, is considered a positive reaction.
