  The Food and Drug Administration recently re-approved the use of silicone implants in this country because they feel there is no statistical evidence linking their use to diseases such as breast cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, or lupus. The main potential side effect of leak in some patients is capsular contracture.

Patients who have more significant looseness or laxity are more likely to benefit from a facelift.
