Last April, Dr. West had to tell me my GSD had a large tumor on her spleen that was ruptured and was bleeding heavily and she had a stomach full of blood. I talked with him about whether she was in pain or not and we discussed putting her down when he suggested that why don't I take her home and see what happens because sometimes the bleeding will stop on its own for a short while. My German Shepherd Eleanor "Elle" Roosevelt Moseley celebrated her twelfth birthday in November and lived until the end of January 2021. In spite of me digging her grave back in April in anticipation of her passing, she spent the last 8 months of her life coming to get me 3 or 4 times a day to go out in the backyard and throw sticks for her.Shepherds are very smart and I believe she had a clock somewhere in her head because she came to get me at the same times every day and would stand in the backyard barking until I had spent at least the minimum number of minutes that she would accept as one of her daily outings.
