The company s name was inspired by Sir Henry Morton Stanley, a missionary and 19th century explorer, famous for liberating the Congo and spreading the light of knowledge throughout the African continent. Takaharu Kitano, an industrious leader with ambition, foresight and inspiration founded Stanley Electric in Japan in 1920. I I Stanley was established in Battle Creek, Mich., in 1985 and began assembling automotive lamps in May of 1987. The company is a QS 9000-registered and an ISO 14001-certified supplier of automotive headlamps and tail lamps, automotive heating and air conditioning controls and modular electronic assemblies for automotive applications as well as sophisticated electronic components for office automation. High intensity discharge lamps have been adapted to the automotive industry, and Stanley produces a variety of styles using cutting-edge technology.
