St. James Place, established in 1983, is a nonprofit organization that provides assisted living and health care services to senior citizens. It offers one- and two-bedroom apartments with fully equipped kitchens, individual patios and balconies. The amenities offered by the center include lobby, meeting and dining rooms, pastry shop, auditorium, library and swimming pool. The services offered by the center include cleaning, dining, housekeeping, laundry, rehabilitation, and wellness and transportation. It provides a variety of recreational activities to residents, including bridge, poker, pool, ping-pong, shuffleboard and computer games, bible studies, mall visits and wine tasting. It organizes various social and cultural activities, including dance classes, arts and craft shows, cooking activities and book clubs. It also has a fitness center that offers free weights, treadmills, weight machines and exercise bikes to members. St. James Place has a more than 50 acres campus located in Baton Rouge, La.
