The Department of Social Services, also known as DSS, is operated by the government of Steuben County Government in New York. The department operates through administration and accounting departments, as well as a child support enforcement unit. It offers a range of child protection and public assistance services. The department administers various home relief and energy assistance programs. The Department of Social Services also provides medical assistance and nursing and home care services. Its child support enforcement unit is responsible for the monitoring of family court support judgments.
