Grandfather Home For Children, founded in 1914, is a private child care agency affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A). Its services include reuniting children with the family of birth and arranging for adoptive placement. It also serves as an orphanage and offers treatment program for children who have been physically, sexually and emotionally abused. It has more than five residential treatment centers that prepare the child to return home. The agency also offers community service programs for children. In addition, through its Grandfather Academy, the agency provides academic facilities. Grandfather Home For Children is approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization, and is located in Banner Elk, N.C.
