General Info
The Bangor Fire Department is dedicated to the protection of life, property and the environment for those who live, work, visit or invest in the community of Bangor, Maine. Through personnel and equipment, it delivers fire suppression, public fire education, advanced emergency medical services, code enforcement and emergency response to all natural or man-made disasters. The department is staffed by nearly 100 firefighters on a 42-hour weekly schedule. The Bangor Fire Department operates from three stations: Central, located on Main Street; Station 5 located at Griffin and Kenduskeag; and Station 6 on Hogan Road. In an average year, the department responds to more than 200 fire calls and approximately 1,250 other calls for service, ranging from hazardous materials incidents to flammable liquid spills. The Bangor Fire Department also operates the Hose 5 Fire Museum, which is housed in a former Bangor Fire station that was built in 1897 and used for nearly 100 years.
