The Maryland Poison Center is certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers as a regional poison center that provides triage, treatment and education services. The center has a staff of trained and certified pharmacists and nurses who specialize in clinical toxicology and offers 24-hour customer support services. The Maryland Poison Center has been a service program of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy since 1972. The center also provides public health care programs. It offers a variety of audiovisual materials for children and adults. The Maryland Poison Center additionally conducts research on the management of poisoning and overdose patients. It is located in Baltimore.
