- DUI/DWI
- Wrongful DeathWhen another person’s careless or negligent actions cause a wrongful death, the deceased’s primary or secondary beneficiaries have the right to file a wrongful death lawsuit and survival action. The lawyers of Schochor and Staton, P.A. provide relentless representation to those suffering from accidental death due to the actions of healthcare providers.
- Sex CrimesIn addition to the specific surgical and treatment errors listed above, due to the nature of gynecological exams and procedures, sometimes women become victims of personal privacy violations and sexual assault by their physician. This is also gynecological malpractice as in this well-known gynecological malpractice suit we successfully settled with Johns Hopkins Hospital due to their gynecologist’s photographing patients without their knowledge or consent during gynecological exams.

- Intellectual PropertyMs. Schochor earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania (cum laude) in 1998, and graduated from The George Washington University Law School (with honors) in 2001. While a student in law school, Ms. Schochor served as the Executive Managing Editor of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal (a national publication), was admitted to the United States Court of Federal Claims as a student-attorney representing clients seeking awards from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, and worked as a law clerk for Stein, Mitchell and Mezines LLP. A lifelong committed community volunteer, Ms. Schochor offered her time weekly as a tutor at the Maya Angelou Public Charter School, regularly served meals from DC Central Kitchen’s mobile food truck, and volunteered in the surgical intensive care unit (SICU) at Walter Reed Army Medical Center (known now as Walter Reed National Military Medical Center).
- Personal InjurySimply experiencing a surgical error, however, does not always point towards surgical error or malpractice. In order to establish malpractice, it must be demonstrated that a surgeon failed to perform the surgery within the standard of care reasonably expected by other surgeons under similar circumstances and that the failure to meet this duty of care resulted in your personal injury.
- Medical MalpracticeWhen a family member has died or has been seriously injured, they and their loved ones need to know why. Unfortunately, medical malpractice is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Hundreds of thousands of people are seriously injured or die each year as a result of medical malpractice. At Schochor and Staton, P.A., we can investigate your case to see if you or your family member was the victim of medical malpractice. As a victim, you deserve truthful answers and full compensation. We are here to provide those for you.
- Power of AttorneyFor caregivers, routine and specialized medical care can be overwhelming. Communication with physicians, nurses, technicians, pharmacists, and office personnel is essential to ensuring that your father receives the best health care available. Keep a written log of all your father’s illnesses, symptoms and medications. This list should be taken to all appointments, shared with the doctor, and made part of the medical record. We also recommend that you utilize a primary care physician who can assist with coordinating medical care. Finally, obtain a power of attorney, if necessary, to provide you with the legal authority to make informed decisions regarding your father.
