  Born in Taiwan, Dr. Yang immigrated as a child to Argentina with his family. He moved to Southern California at the age of 18 to pursue his college education. Dr. Yang earned a B.S. in business and information systems from the California State Polytechnic University in Pomona and went on to receive his doctorate in optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2006. He underwent extensive clinical training with an emphasis in ocular diseases at the VA Los Angeles Ambulatory Care Center and at the Indian Health Services Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. Dr. Yang is also one of Bakersfield’s elite optometrists that are licensed to treat and manage Glaucoma.
• Macular Degeneration
  The Optos Daytona produces a 200 degree single capture optomap retinal image of unrivaled clarity in less than 1/2 second. It is used for disease detection and management. Examples of conditions that it can help detect include retinal detachments, holes, tears, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, melanomas and many more.
• Laser Eye Surgery
  It is considered a noninvasive and nonsurgical alternative to procedures like LASIK or PRK, making it a potential option for individuals who are not suitable candidates for surgery
• Cataracts
  Myopia is a condition that is most associated with blurred vision at distance. It results when the length of the eyeball (axial length) is elongated. Increasing amounts of myopia do not only cause difficulty seeing. Myopia is also associated with an increase in sight threatening eye diseases such as myopic macular degeneration, cataract, glaucoma, retinal tears, holes and detachments.
• Eye Exam
  Along with all aspects of a comprehensive eye exam, we will also fit you with a contact lens based on the curvature and size of your eyes and we select a lens material that is most suited for each individual patient. We will include a contact lens training if you are a new wearer and all necessary follow up visits. We fit standard spherical contact lenses and also more complicated fits for astigmatism, presbyopia and rigid gas permeable lenses.

  Ocular Coherence Tomography is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to illustrate the different layers that make up the back of the eye. The major benefit of this state of the art machine is that it allows our optometrists to see both the back of your eye and a three-dimensional image to look beneath the surface of the retina.
