Provided by YP.comSeems like every time I give this place another try, I am always leaving shocked at how I am treated. I started flying planes again and this was the only one in town that we have. From the very first visit Doug has treated me like am amateur! Always treating me like I dont even know what I am talking about!
Not only that, when I want to buy something he always asked, Well what is it for? Who cares! I know what I want. Its like he doesnt want to sell me what i need, I first need his approval!.
I spent over $1000 in a month and he still treats me like I am there to give him a bad time. He puts down the planes I buy from other companies as if his are the only ones that fly! LOL.. He keeps putting down NitroPlanes.com probably because he knows he cant compete with them. I have had three NitroPlanes DOUG, they all fly great! None of them burnt up like you said they would! lol.
He asked me the other day if I was Indian! He was shocked I wasnt and said that was good, then, I know you wont cause problems... I will never step back in his store again!
I gave him two stars for the inventory he has. Worst sales in a store I have ever been too! No Joke! You need to Chill out Doug!
I will order everything online from now on! I hope the store lasts! I wont be sending friends there anymore!

Provided by YPmobileI have never posted a review ever. But I went to this store just to get something simple. I am a very patient person and understand first come first serve. But I arrived at this store just to find an rc car body for my sons car. When I walked in there was only 2 other people in the store. One guy was being helped. Well if you call it help. After awhile he got what he wanted then when he went to check out he asked if what he bought can be exchanged if it don't work. And the comment from the young rude a** clerk was. What you can't read and he pointed at a small label on the counter that apparently stated their stupid policy of no returns. This was in a 30min time. In that 30 minutes the other customer and I was waiting with a very obvious need of assistance. With no recognition we were in the store. After the rude comment to the 1st customer I decided to leave. Then I find out that the door was locked and had to wait to be buzzed out. I give this store a 1 star because they do have a good stock but if you don't know exactly I mean exactly what you want I would never waist the time!!

Provided by YP.comClearly, based on the comments of many raters and the response from "an employee", she learned her customer service skills from the owner. Coming from a customer service background it's painfully obvious that these people don't get it. To come on here and berate customers as a**holes because they are unwilling to accept poor customer service and attitudes is unacceptable. If she was my empoyee I would suggest she might be better off in a position that doesn't involve customers. She might fit in at the DMV. Customer service is hard, yes, and gets more difficult every day as the bar continues to rise. For those businesses that receive good marks, congratulations and you have earned the right to stay in business. For those that display the attitudes reflected here, the public is better off without them.

Provided by YPmobileEver since February of 2011, I've been working at Doug's. As an employer, Doug has been a terrific person to work for. At first I was hired to clean the shop, but now do an equal share in putting orders through, and handling transactions because of the vast amount of customers we handle. I'm not too experienced with a lot of RC things, but if its one thing that I learned in retail, its that pleasing each individual customer has been one of the most hardest and impossible things to do. If we carried EVERY single part that a person was looking for, for all of the numerous brands, we would have an infinite amount of stuff to fit in the small shop. If you go to a BMW dealer that only manufactures BMWs, would you be outraged that you couldnt find a Mercedes?! Dougs hobbies only goes through Tower Hobbies and Horizon Hobbies to purchase our stock, so it would be absolutely RIDICULOUS to throw a fit over not being able to purchase your parts.
As far as customer service, I witness every single day the amount of effort that Doug puts in to assisting others. I currently work 40 hours a week, and after dealing with the numerous types of personalities, I feel like pulling my hair out! And just to think that Doug puts in far more hours into keeping the shop up than I do... People need to understand that you absolutely can not please everyone!!! If someone complained about us questioning customers too much, the next guy that comes in is going to complain about us not asking enough questions. (Which we do in able to make sure our customers get what they need.)
I think Doug does an excellent job in providing the customers with what they want. We all try our hardest with pleasing each individual customer, and others need to believe that the world does not revolve around them, and their specific needs. You are never going to find anyone else that takes the time that Doug does to provide this massive amount of service to a business. I am thankful to have him as an employer, because he is very fair, and intelligent. For all of those who are complaining about this business should probably earn enough money and skill (that they obviously lack) and perhaps start their own hobby business, and they can run everything the way they want it, and they will be excited to find out that they will experience a great amount of a** holes that they can't please.
So please, appreciate the services we offer as we try very hard to keep this business going.

Provided by YP.comalright here is the deal,i hear a few people complain about dougs service, but you know what-first of all everybody has a bad day now and again and there are some people that just cannot be pleased no matter what!...my opinion -i have been doing business with doug since he had b and f hobbies and have never had any complaints.i sure as he#* cant say that about the late racers haven!! as far as i am concerned we don;t need another hobby shop in town. if you get a burr under your tail because he is asking you what a rc part or componant is for,did you ever stop to think that he is trying to sell you the right part for the application? as far as service, every time i ask him where something is in his store he ALWAYS gets up and looks for it for me(this has to be very uncomfortable for him due to his bad knee)what more do you want?every one i hear complain about him in my club seems to have a bit of an attitude themselves ,if i were him and i had a customer with an attitude from the get go and was painfully walking across the store to get you the right part the first time, and you gave me a tude i would give it right back to you too! doug has a vast amount of experance in our hobby and he wont charge you for that..see how much of that you can buy on the internet hobby sources!! keep up the good work doug!! one other thing,if this other person that wrote the bad review looks to be indian or middle eastern and is asking for unusual items in this day and age he had every right to question him.we all know that our hobby is at risk due to the knuckle head back east that attempted to load explosives into a turbine rc plane thinking of some terrorist plan!! not to judge anyone but if that is what was going on,please buy all of your rc goods on the internet so the feds can track your purchases and stop picking on our local businesses !

Provided by YP.comI can only say the previous comment must have been on a bad day for all concerned. My first visit to Doug's Hobbies was a pleasant one. I was able to browse the diverse inventory without interruption and when I was ready for service, I approached the counter. I was waited on immediately even to the point of interrupting a conversation with a customer that looked like he was going to be there for a while. When I inquired about some things I was interested in, Doug immediately checked availability from his supplier, quoted me a price that was less than retail and told me to chec k back with him next Wednesday. No special order, no deposit, he just ordered the items for stock so that I could see them before I purchased them. Great service! I'll be back.

Provided by YPmobileOut of all of the hobby shops in town, this one is the worst. I've been giving everything but helpfullness or courtesy. I had gone down to this shop for a part, and when I found it I walked up to the counter only to be completely ignored by the guy behind the counter guzzling down a beer. I placed an order for a part through them, and when I called to see if it had come in, I was given nothing but attitude. I will never give them the pleasure of having my business.
Could have happened. Did you bring it up with the management. We do look into this sort of thing.

Provided by YPmobileI can't believe a town this size only has 1 hobby shop this diverse. No matter what your into they have something to offer. It's a small shop so quantities are small, but prices are fair and service is friendly.
