General Info

The Bainbridge Advocacy Individual Network ( BAIN ) was established in June 1995. BAIN is a grass roots, non-profit, community based, advocacy organization founded by two disabled persons, Virginia Close Harris and the late Eddie Bulger. They believed in themselves and were determined to make a difference. They recognized there was a need for those persons in the community that had a disability to have a place to come together for information, resources, and support. BAIN, Inc was formed. BAIN acknowledged that in this society there is strength in numbers. In Bainbridge, it soon became clear that people with disabilities are fully capable of bringing about change in the community, and teaching others in the process. We also recognized how easy it was to be discouraged by barriers. Therefore, a network was needed that would afford the opportunity to feel empowered, to provide encouragement, to clarify issues, and to strategically plan for a nondiscriminatory society.
