We work in Guatemala, Colombia, and Panama to employ textile artisans, cobblers, artisan shoemakers and boot makers to create quality products. Each Teysha product uses Latin American art forms - molas from the Kuna people of Colombia and Panama and huipils from the Mayan people of Guatemala. General Info
We are allies crafting a global culture of action, opportunity, and respect for people and nature: one hand-made quality creation at a time. Our story begins with our passion and commitment to make the world a better place. We’re a group of young people determined to grow our global community as well as embrace and preserve the cultural and natural treasures that make our planet so incredible. Through our journeys at home and abroad, we had seen the face of poverty and deforestation and the damage they cause, we studied their roots, lived in these places and imagined ways that we could turn the tide. We learned that social entrepreneurship, conscious capitalism, and micro-finance were some of the most effective tools for empowering people and places. So we jumped in to see what we could do. The result was Teysha. We created Teysha to represent our belief that as allies we are stronger. The word Teysha (Tay-sha), which means friend or ally, comes from the native Caddo people of our home land, Texas. More than two hundred years ago, the Caddo and surrounding tribes came together in order to protect their communities and their cultural treasures. Inspired by this unity, we are working to create a federation of allies to take action and protect the treasures of our planet and humanity’s cultures.Through art, agriculture, craftsmanship and connection we are forging alliances and friendships to create opportunities and lay the groundwork for prosperity and peace. We now work in Panama, Colombia, Guatemala and USA. We are actively seeking ways to bring new communities and allies to grow Teysha. Through our work, we also aim to bring lessons and opportunities to people living in developed countries: by sharing stories from each others’ cultures, taking action on the ground, and exchanging beautiful art.
