Founded in 1954, Harris Elementary School provides learning opportunities to more than 900 students in prekindergarten through grade five. It offers a variety of educational opportunities for the physical, emotional and mental development of students. The school s academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as math, physical education, language arts, music and science. It offers after-school care through the Extend-A-Car program. Harris Elementary School also provides special education, bilingual and reading recovery programs. It has an active parent-teacher association that supports and organizes several student activities. In addition, the school s campus advisory council reviews educational programs, improvement plans and performance reports of the school. Located in Austin, Texas, Harris Elementary School is a part of the Austin Independent School District.
