I just wanted to clear the record about the very upset guest below me; every school has its weaknesses, but the teachers and faculty that work so hard for my benefit do not merit this kind of assault. :) I attend the Regents High School and I receive one of the most challenging and educations I could imagine. All humanities classes are conducted around round tables, and engaging discussion on extremely complex issues is the norm. To respectfully address Guest96839's claim that few of our teachers have credentials for teaching degrees, I will first admit that I don't know much about Texas teaching degrees. That said, my School of Rhetoric teachers attended Harvard Law, Princeton Seminary, Harvard undergrad, UCSD med school, UT, (and teach UT and St. Edward's college courses on the side), about 10% have doctorates in their fields, and many other qualifications that, in my eyes, justify that this is their service--they clearly are not in it for the money. :) (Continued..)

The person who complained about Regents sounds like he/she is confused. First she/he complained about teacher competency and certification, then about religious atmosphere and finally regarding student enrollment in college. It sounds like the underlying issue is the person did not fit in to the community.

If you attend this school, you won't be able to SPELL college by graduation. The community is largely hypocritical, few of them have the credentials to be teachers at any Austin school as many are parents without teaching degrees, and I can honestly say that going to Regents shook my faith in God more than any other singular experience. Students and teachers personally demonize any child who questions his or her faith or believes in a doctrine other than rigidly practiced Protestant Christianity, but they use God to justify cruelty and ungodly behavior. It's a school for bad students with a sense of entitlement and an unchecked, unsubstantiated ego. Children are not taught to inquire, to write, to talk to adults in a respectful manner, to defend their faith, or even to function in an adult world. Nor should they have any expectation of getting into a good college, as Regents grads do not go on to any but unranked Texas schools and commuter colleges, because their education is sub-par.
